ABOUT THE ORM STORM
I'm Scott. I throw darts
This is what happened when I decided to take getting better seriously.
The Orm Storm started as somewhere to document my darts journey, the equipment I was trying, the things I was learning and, occasionally, the things that were driving me mad.
Then Road to 70 happened.
What started as a simple challenge to consistently average 70 gave the whole thing a purpose. One match every day, tracked through Scolia and shared regardless of whether I'd played brilliantly or had an absolute shocker.
Along the way, The Orm Storm has grown into more than I originally expected. There's the daily series, the blog, equipment, partnerships and a growing community of people following the journey.
But the reason I'm doing it hasn't really changed.
I want to find out how good a darts player I can become and document what actually happens along the way.
ROAD TO 70 CHANGED THINGS
Road to 70 started with a number, but it quickly became the backbone of The Orm Storm.
Committing to playing and sharing a match every day meant there was nowhere to hide. Good days get posted. Bad days get posted. The numbers are tracked through Scolia and the progress — or occasional complete lack of it — is there for everyone to see.
It's taught me a lot about my game, but it's also shaped what I want The Orm Storm to be.
Honest. Consistent. And never pretending the journey is easier than it really is.
MORE THAN JUST DARTS
The journey might happen at the dartboard, but The Orm Storm has gradually become about more than just the matches I play.
The blog gives me somewhere to go deeper, whether that's equipment I've spent proper time using, things I've learned about my own game or simply something in darts I think is worth talking about.
I've also been lucky enough to build relationships with some great people and brands along the way. Those relationships have never been about filling the website or a shirt with logos. If something becomes part of The Orm Storm, I want there to be a genuine reason for it.
And then there's the community around it.
One of the best things about sharing the journey has been the conversations it creates with other darts players, people chasing their own targets, suggesting things to try, taking the piss when things go wrong and celebrating the good days with me.
That's probably the bit I never expected when I started all this.
WHERE DOES IT END?
I genuinely don't know.
The immediate target might be a consistent 70 average, but I don't see The Orm Storm ending the day I get there.
There will always be something else to improve, another target to chase, another bit of equipment to try and probably another double to miss when it really matters.
For now, I'm just going to keep throwing, keep sharing it and see where the journey takes me.
